Portugal's immigration agency AIMA is terrible

AIMA is a malfunctioning organization with poor transparency and performance. People are left waiting for approvals, renewals, and family reunification for months, with no clear feedback or updates—only a vague “under analysis” status. A basic level of digitalization could solve many of these issues, such as using AI to preliminarily review uploaded documents and cases, leaving only the final decision to a human. This inefficiency is a serious barrier to attracting talent to the country.
