Automatic garden sprinkler system floods garden, Portuguese landlord lady blames me and bills me EUR 1600 for a sprinkler system I never touched and didn't know existed

You guys want to hear a Portugal story?

My garden apparently has an auto watering system for plants which my landlord never mentioned to me. I found out about it cuz water company ppl knocked on my door and told me I had a leak. Within a few minutes I traced the leak to this irrigation system I did not know existed that was malfunctioning.

When I signed the lease the landlord agreed to take care of utilities for a monthly fee so I wouldn’t have to deal with the utilities companies.

Now she sends me a 1600 EUR water bill from the leak, and asks me to call the water company to deal with it (I can’t since I'm not the person in the utility contract, she is), and says if I don’t pay they will cut my water.
