I often travel across Portugal via coach or train.
It’s never pleasant to use toilets on public transport, but I was shocked the first time I realised there was no soap or water.
I asked the coach driver, ‘Is there any soap or water?’
He grunted, ‘NO’.
Sadly, this is common.
You’re expected to touch filthy taps and toilet seats and have no way to clean your hands.
Sometimes I really, really hate this country.
I cannot stand the laziness, sloppiness and low standards.
And yet the breathtaking arrogance — as if Portugal is still some kind of superpower.
