Portuguese courts are extremely slow: cases take years, sometimes over a decade

Had a criminal case (public crime) in which I was a victim of an assault. It took 1.5 years to get to actual proceedings, and then the court completely ignored evidence without any explanation (“we don’t take any more evidence”). The final sentence is internally inconsistent, made up upon a false story of an aggressor and a lying witness from aggressor’s side, and practically calls me an aggressor with no single proof. Feels totally biased. Appeal stage is hard with these laws.

Practically it requires a victim to be an active participant in a court, even with really great evidence.
