In most of the cafes we go laptops are banned and power outlets simply don’t exist or are blocked off.
I get that you don’t want people ordering one coffee and hanging around all day.
But somehow in the rest of the world this isn’t a big problem like most of Asia and America.
In Thailand, many times the WiFi is limited to 1 hour and you get a code when you order something. Portuguese cafes COULD use that kind of system if they’re so worried about abuse.
But they don’t.
Do you know where the 2nd biggest company in the world was started? In a Wendy’s, an American diner, with power outlets, that allows laptops. The company is Nvidia.

That couldn’t be in Portugal because you taped off the power outlet:
