NIF requires Portuguese address, rental contract requires NIF

When I arrived in Portugal I got into this impossible loop. I needed a NIF to conclude my rental contract. However, in other to have a NIF I needed a Portuguese address. I showed Financas my rental contract and was told it wasn’t valid and was illegal because it needs a NIF. YES, THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THERE FOR.

I had to go to a different Financas, pretend I was still living in the UK to get the NIF associated with an address I already didn’t live anymore, then get the rental contract done, then go back to Financas again to change it to a Portuguese address.
