Portugal needs public awareness campaigns

While some problems in Portugal are due to the (soft) corruption or bad government systems, others relate more to ingrained cultural behaviors that could be improved if there just was more awareness of them.

From the TV I’ve watched in Portugal I’ve noticed there are basically never any public awareness ads. In The Netherlands there is an excellent example of an institution called SIRE that creates ads to highlight issues in society, often with humor, to improve social awareness and just get people to stop and think.

Issues like dog shit on the streets in Portugal, or the very low level of respect from car drivers towards bicyclists, could be addressed with advertising campaigns. The only public ads I ever saw were the ones thanking frontline workers during covid-19, which were amazing, but this idea could be carried further into day to day societal issues.
