Alright, here’s my latest Portugal service nightmare:
I had electricity with REPSOL. Everything was on autopilot—direct debit set up, not checking bills every month (because, you know, why would you if it’s all automated?).
Then I moved out. Closed my account. Or so I thought.
Eight (8!!!) months later, out of the blue: “Hey, you didn’t pay your last month’s bill.”
Me: “Huh? Okay, fine, I’ll pay.”
But wait—there’s more! After I ask if that’s all, suddenly: “Actually, you didn’t pay the last TWO months.”
Me: 🤯
How did they close my account so easily if I was supposedly owing them?
And why did it take them EIGHT MONTHS to notice?
Now I want to pay, but I don’t have a Portuguese bank account (because Portuguese banks are, let’s be real, racist—they told me to my face they won’t open an account because of my nationality. Also, they’re just bad and lazy.)
So I ask REPSOL for an IBAN to make a transfer.
GULP: “Sorry, you can only pay if you have a MBWAY. Oh, and your account is closed, so you can’t pay other ways either.”
Are these bills even real? Or did they just forget to send them and now want to cover their asses?
Or are they just lazy fucks who don’t want to take my money?
Honestly, if they don’t want to take my money, it’s not my problem anymore, right?
Portugal, man. You just can’t make this stuff up.
