Worten electronics store is 40°C inside and staff are drenched in sweat

Today we visited Worten in the Cascais Shopping mall.

We were shocked when we entered, it felt like a sauna or heater was on. The store felt like 40°C.

We asked the staff whose faces were drenched in sweat “Is the AC on? Is this normal?”. They answered “Yes it is on. But it’s not strong and it’s always been like this.”. I asked “Why doesn’t your boss fix it or install more ACs?”, he shrugged “Yes 🤷 “.

It’s sad to see this. It’s not just bad for customers because we had to leave immediately because it was so hot. These are also dangerous conditions to work in and you can get dehydrated and faint easily.

The fact he said “it’s always been like this” shows a complete contempt by managers here to improve things.

Everything is about cutting corners to save money. It’s a short term culture, save money on short term but long term your staff and customers just leave!

Shameful really.
